Dr. Gina Steffen - Principal

Hello! I am Gina Steffen, and I am honored to serve as the principal of Daniel Boone Elementary. Returning to this school in a new leadership role is especially meaningful, as I previously served here as an administrative intern and literacy coach.

With more than 20 years of experience, I have served as an instructional coach, learning consultant, administrator, and classroom teacher in general, gifted, and special education. I hold a Doctorate in Educational Leadership in Teaching and Learning, along with an Education Specialist degree, Master's degrees in Reading and Elementary Administration and a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.

I am committed to creating an exceptional school experience for every student and family. My greatest passions are fostering meaningful student engagement, strengthening Tier 1 instruction for all students, and helping teachers grow in their practice.  I believe strong partnerships with families are essential to student success, and I look forward to working together to continue Daniel Boone's tradition of excellence while living our motto, "Every Student, Every Day."

Arica Vester - Assistant Principal

Mrs. Vester joins Daniel Boone following the resignation of Mrs. Verberkmoes, who accepted a new leadership position in another school district this summer. We thank Mrs. Verberkmoes for her service to Daniel Boone and wish her all the best in her new role.

Arica brings 22 years of experience in education, including the past 13 years in the Francis Howell School District. Most recently, she served as the Assistant Principal at Central Elementary for the 2025–2026 school year. Mrs. Vester's district leadership involvement includes:  department chair; curriculum and assessment writer; CITW facilitator; PLC Coaching Academy building facilitator; and LEAP.  She also served as the district elementary Summer Success Building Principal.  Prior to that, she taught kindergarten and first grade at Warren Elementary for 10 years and, before joining FHSD, worked as both a middle school counselor and a special education teacher.

She earned a Master's degree in Educational Administration from Northwest Missouri State University, as well as a Master's degree in School Guidance and Counseling and a Bachelor's degree in Education from Missouri State University.

Outside of school, Arica and her husband, Kevin, recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. They have twin daughters, Abigail and Olivia, who attend Missouri State University. As a family, they enjoy hiking, traveling, and spending "Sunday Funday" together at home.
