On behalf of the entire Daniel Boone staff, welcome to a new school year! Whether you are returning to our school or joining us for the first time, we are excited to have you as part of the Daniel Boone family. It is truly an honor to return to Daniel Boone as your principal. Having previously served as an administrative intern here, I experienced firsthand the strong relationships, traditions, and sense of community that make Daniel Boone such a special place. Returning in this new role is both a privilege and an honor, and I look forward to reconnecting with familiar faces while getting to know many new students and families.

Once again, welcome to Daniel Boone! I am excited for the year ahead as we work together to ensure Every Student, Every Day experiences a safe, welcoming, and engaging place to learn.
Our K-5 school is located in New Melle, Missouri. New Melle is a community that was established as a German settlement in the mid 1800's and is a sister city to Melle, Germany. It is now a diversified community that continues to have a great deal of pride in the community's German heritage.
Daniel Boone Elementary first opened its doors on September 6, 1955. Daniel Boone served as the second elementary for the Reorgainized District Numbber III and was the new education center for the western half of the district. The school was designed to house classrooms for grades 1-6 plus a large all purpose room that served as both the cafeteria and gymnasium.
In October 1958 a Bond Issue financed the construction of 2 additional classrooms, which anticipated a 20% increase in enrollment for the following school year. This was the same bond issue that funded the construction of the original Francis Howell High School.
Daniel Boone has had numerous additions over the years with the most recent addition completed in 2011 which included additional classrooms and a new cafeteria. Today we serve approximately 435 students.
Daniel Boone continuously strives to provide every opportunity for our students to reach their highest potential. We are very proud of our school's past performance and we look forward to an even brighter future.
As a District focused on continuous improvement, each of our 23 schools develops a site-based school improvement plan every year. The plan outlines the goals and actions the building plans to take throughout the year to improve various areas of performance.
A pyramid of intervention is a tiered approach to prevention and intervention strategies to support students both academically and behaviorally. The pyramid uses a variety of strategies and techniques to help all students stay on the right track. The foundation of the pyramid offers Tier 1 supports for all students. Tier 2 interventions provide additional support for smaller groups of students who need more targeted help. Tier 3 provides the most intensive supports for individual students when Tier 1 and 2 interventions have been unsuccessful. Our schools review and update their pyramid on a regular basis to ensure new strategies are incorporated and all are aligned with best practice.
